Source: Damon Oppenheimer will remain as the Yankees' amateur scouting director. Other changes in baseball ops expected to be made, however.I don't get it. I really don't. What legitimate reasons could there be to retain him? Only thing I can think is that the team wants to give Ty Hensley and the 2013 1st round picks one full season to prove themselves before cutting Oppenheimer loose. That's the only explanation that would make a shred of sense to me because the last few drafts haven't produced any real blue chippers and the last few 1st round picks have been atrocious.

If Oppenheimer is staying, hopefully those "other changes in baseball ops" that Feinsand mentioned are made in positions of significance. If the strength and conditioning coach is going to be the only scapegoat for last season, that's not nearly enough change.
