It wasn't enough to trick me into
falling back in man crush love with the guy, but that was a fantastic job on the bump by Phil Hughes today. He was confident, aggressive, and totally in command out there. He used his fastball, curveball, and changeup brilliantly to keep the Detroit lineup guessing, never wavered from his approach, and actually got stronger as the game went on. Round of applause for you, Phillip.
Can we get some more of these performances and fewer of the batting practice stinkers from Anaheim, please? That'd be awesome.
