Oh Come On!!
You''ll willingly scrape Freddy Garcia and Bartolo Colon off the bottom of the scrap heap last year on one-year deals when each represented significant risk, but won't shell out for a bona fide top-tier starter who's practically throwing himself at you this year on another one-year deal?
I don't get it.

If the Yankees don't sign Oswalt or at least try very hard I think we have to resign ourselves to the fact that we are going to give some of our kids a chance to prove themselves before the glut of free agent pitchers hit the market next year. I can see Cashman wanting to give them a chance even if it is only to improve there trade value. With the prices we have seen lately a second good year from Nova would make him worth a lot, as would a comeback by Hues. this may also be our last year to see what we really have in aaa because if we do sign two free agents next year that does not leave a lot of room for advancement with Sabatha and Nova.
Agreed on all points. My big issue is the Yankees not following through on their declaration to improve the rotation, especially when there are options out there that allow them to do that for 2012 and still leave themselves able to trim payroll for 2014.
And I definitely expect to see Noesi, Warren, and Phelps pitching for the Yankees at some point in 2012, maybe even ManBan. They need to decide which guys in Triple-A factor into the future rotation plans and which guys don't.
I agree and thank you for responding
