Game 71 Wrap-Up: LAD 6 NYY 0

(Courtesy of Getty Images)

Things were looking good for the Yankees last night after they won the day game of the doubleheader.  Then the lineup remembered that they're mostly crummy hitters and Bad Phil Hughes showed up.  Pretty simple really.  Not much to this one.

Game Notes:

- Bad Phil.

- Bad Phil.

- More Bad Phil.

- Adam Warren HR.

- No offense.

F*ck Yeahs:

- Warren: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K.  At least he ate some innings...

Oh Nos:

- Hughes: 6 IP, 10 H, 5 ER, 0 BB, 3 K.  At least he didn't walk anybody...

- Lineup: 3-29, 0 XBH, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K.  And that includes a 3-20 with all 4 Ks against Chris Capuano.  Think about that for a minute.

Next Up:

It's off the West Coast teams for a while as a familiar division rival comes to town.  Tampa Bay and New York kick off a 4-game weekend series tonight at The Stadium with a good lefty-lefty pitching matchup in Andy Pettitte and Matt Moore.  A no-hitter could be in play.

Josh Hamilton slumps and he's dropped to 7th in the order. Vernon Wells slumps and Girardi the genius promotes him to cleanup hitter...

He's just at the end of an 8-week slump, that's all. He'll break out any minute!
