Game 150 Wrap-Up: BOS 9 NYY 2

(Courtesy of Getty Images)

What a disappointing game to watch.  It never had the feel like the Yankees actually had a chance, even with Clay Buchholz struggling mightily with his fastball command.  The moment proved to be too big for Ivan Nova again, the lineup was punchless, and the bullpen made things even worse.  The full detailed game notes can be found below in the live blogcheck out the rest of the game recap after the jump.

F*ck Yeahs:

- Ichiro Suzuki: 2-4, 1 R, 1 LOB.  None of his at-bats that I saw were good ones, but he was the only player with multiple hits and he did drive in a run.

Oh Nos:

- Nova: 4+ IP, 6 H, 5 R (4 ER), 4 BB, 2 K.  No command, no willingness to throw a certain pitch when he needed to, no chance against the deep Red Sox lineup.  This was another exercise in patience being used to wear Nova down, both physically and mentally.  These are the games he needs to learn how to pitch well in if he wants to be anything more than a back end starter.

- Chris Stewart: 0-2, 1 HBP, 3 LOB, PB.  That's 11 passed balls on the year for Stewart.  His throw to second on the double steal that turned into a run was short too.  Please tell me this guy isn't going to be a part of next year's catching plans.  He sucks.

- Robinson Cano: 0-4, 2 LOB.  Saw just 11 pitches in his 4 plate appearances last night.  Didn't make Buchholz work at all early, which was a huge mistake on Robbie's part when hitting with runners on.  He needs to be patient in those situations and at least make a productive out.

Next Up:

Yanks will get a scheduled off-day today, which I'm sure Alex Rodriguez and his bad legs will be thankful for.  They start a series in Toronto on Tuesday with Andy Pettitte and R.A. Dickey getting the starts.
