These should bring us up to the 50 mil I was talking about. I believe we all expect to lose Swisher in preparation for 2014 so if Mo retires the only problem I see is Martin if Austin Romine is not ready to take that spot. this is why I think we would lose less long-term by cutting this year than in 2014.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08992734312762668170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5458013228717314951.post-17701134668984988032012-04-13T07:41:05.101-05:002012-04-13T07:41:05.101-05:00I like your logic in everything you're saying....I like your logic in everything you're saying. But Mo coming off the books after this season would only save $15 mil, not 50. And with the other high-dollar guys still under contract and the team surely picking up Cano and C-Grand's 2013 options, getting under $189 mil by next season won't be possible.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03481118946284243411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5458013228717314951.post-15004394030541904122012-04-12T13:56:14.042-05:002012-04-12T13:56:14.042-05:00is there a reason that the Yankees could not go be...is there a reason that the Yankees could not go below the 189 mil mark next year then we would be able to spend when Cano and Granderson become free agents. if Reveria retires this year we should lose over 50 mil. in salary at the end of the year. Even with losing the best reliever of all time the bullpen should be in good shape. Pineta should be fine to fill one of the starting spots that will be open and someone from triple a should be able to be the fifth starter. The bench will have to be maned by kids but that is what we did except for the last few years. I think most of us are already thinking Swisher is gone at the end of the year. This leaves use needing to resign or replace Marten and a designated hitter. We would still have a competitive team and get to see some of the youngsters while resetting the penalties and still be able to sign Canopapanoreply@blogger.com
