The Yankees don'...That's the thing, though. The Yankees don't HAVE to go out and land anybody, and their results so far this season are proof. There's been consistent inconsistency, but nothing bad enough to make adding a starter an absolute necessity, especially not at the cost that Colorado is asking for Ubaldo.

Calling it luck may or may not be fair, but the fact is they've gotten more than the expected from Colon and Garcia and they, combined with A.J. and Hughes and Nova, have been just good enough to allow the Yankees to be successful.

That being the case, that's why I'm basing my argument on the next 48 hours being critical. If theses guys continue to perform the way they have been or better, I think that will be enough to inspire Cash to stand pat. If they shit the bed, I think that will be enough to tip the scales in favor of making a move.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03481118946284243411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5458013228717314951.post-51998969344645410012011-07-28T13:42:41.431-05:002011-07-28T13:42:41.431-05:00I actually disagree....there is no way Cashman is ...I actually disagree....there is no way Cashman is going to let the next 48 hours dictate how the rest of this season will go. He either has already made his mind up that he's getting another pitcher or he's not going to sacrifice his prospects. The next 48 hours represent far too small a sample size to say "we need a starter" (which we do). We know we need a starter based on the hit-and-missness of the group of AJ, Hughes, Colon, Garcia. The yanks were more than lucky to get some value out of Colon and Garcia. But of the group: AJ, Hughes, Colon and Garcia - not one of those guys is a RELIABLE postseason #2. AJ single-handedly blew game 4 ALCS last year to Bengie Molina. Cash MUST go out and land someone BIG.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
